Dr. Gretchen Wright grew up in Houston, Texas, but headed to Clemson University (Go Tigers!) in South Carolina for college. After working on the horse and dairy farms there, she decided to become a veterinarian. She graduated from Texas A&M School of Veterinary Medicine and then did an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Dr. Wright then moved back to Texas to practice while her husband, Zack, completed his residency in small animal oncology. The Wrights moved to Albuquerque in the summer of 2008 and Gretchen joined Aztec in July 2009. Dr. Wright has special interests in surgery and dentistry.
Zack and Gretchen have a cat, Dixie, two golden retrievers, Cayman and Jessie, and a mixed breed dog, Allie. In her free time, Dr. Wright likes to rose garden, swim, hike with the dogs, and shop and eat in Albuquerque and Santa Fe.
