Dr. Maggie Jones

Maggie Jones is a military brat, turned New Mexico native in 2002. She earned a BS in Animal Science from Texas Tech University and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Colorado State University. Dr. Jones completed a small animal medicine and surgery rotating internship at the Veterinary Specialty Center of Tucson, AZ. It was there that she discovered a passion for wound care, soft tissue surgery, and pain management. Prior to joining the team at Aztec Animal Clinic, Dr. Jones served the community of Santa Fe, NM, as a veterinarian at Smith Veterinary Hospital.

Although she now enjoys promoting the human-animal bond through treatment of household pets, Dr. Jones originally developed an interest in veterinary medicine through her work with the Albuquerque Biopark, New England Aquarium, Georgia Aquarium, AQUAVET (through Cornell University), and Dolphinaris.

When not at work, she enjoys needlework of all kinds (knitting, crochet, cross stitch, etc.) and getting outdoors through hiking or snowboarding. Dr. Jones is also a board member of the New Mexico Street Homeless Animal Project.
